Learning through Play: The Old-Fashioned Way

“Play is the answer to the question, ‘How does anything new ever come about?’”
—–Jean Piaget

What happened to the days when children played with a set of wooden blocks or shape sorters? Why has the fast paced world in which we live, and the rising technological advances replaced simple toys and board games and challenged children to be creative and imaginative in the world that surrounds them?

This seminar will provide an insight to the changes, views and how this shift is affecting the generation of children today. It will provide the chance for parents and professionals to manipulate toys from their generation and see why these toys are important to the children growing up today. Children do not need fancy gadgets that require plugs or batteries to learn, nor do they need toys that do all the work for them. What they do need is the chance to manipulate toys and use their creativity, which is essential to overall cognitive development and learning.
